On the last 4th December, the Cousteau Society transmitted its disagreement with the japanese announcement that Japan is resuming the whales hunting to Ms. Yuriko Koike, Member of the House of Representatives, Former Environment Minister, Former Minister of Defense of Japan.
After the roundtable about “Addressing the effects of climate change on Oceans and on Coastal and SIDS Populations: The Scientific evidence, scenarios and choices for decision makers”, The Cousteau Director of Science of Environment expressed how chocking it was to hear during the COP that Japan is walking back in a moment that the world calls help to save our planet.
During the speech, Ms. Koike exposed how Japan supports the small islands states, and the vision of Japan on Ocean and Climate Change issues. She did not mention the announcement from the National Fishery Agency about resuming whaling.
The Cousteau Society calls for better decisions from decision makers!
