The objectives of the Chair is to exchange Ecotechnie related information among professors at Yunnan University and other universities in the province, concerning their students, researchers, and decision-makers in government agencies; and to give conferences and seminars with the object of developing within China Ecotechnie concepts, conservation education curricula, research projects and action-oriented data centres on biodiversity, over the longer-term.
Furthermore, the Chair wishes to expand knowledge about core concepts and activities on regional issues and concerns, focusing initially on the “Mountains of Southwest China Biodiversity Hot spot,” which includes portions of Sichuan, Tibet, and also neighbouring countries, such as Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam; and to see the creation of a true “laboratory for action” by providing a bridge between education, decision making and development.
