A truly remarkable man...brilliant! Patsi

I yous to watch him when I was little and I have two videos about him I Just wish I could have got to meet him. Nathanael Butler

I have been a marine biologist and instructor in Marine Science I , Marine Science II and Oceanography for 35 years. I feel a deep commitment to the oceans and the preservation of the creatures that live there. My compassion and love of the ocean was nurtured by all those Cousteau Specials during the 1960s and early 1970s. As a woman, I was also encouraged to pursue this career because Captain Cousteau also had female scientists on some of his voyages. When I finally got to meet Captain Cousteau, his son Jean-Michelle, and tour Calypso in 1986, I was humbled beyond words. I remember holding Calypso's ships wheel and humming the theme song under my breath, and suddenly I was 12 years old again ! I make sure my students understand the debt they owe this man for taking the whole world in his arms and bearing us underwater. All of our nature shows today, and our TV stations that specialize in undersea programs are the legitimate offspring of Cousteau and sons' carefull and loving cenimatography. More importantly, Captain Cousteau gave an empathic voice to an entity that could not speak for itself- our one world ocean. I also salute the Cousteaus for continuing in the effort to preserve and maintain the oceans, as well as restore Calypso. To see that beautiful white ship sailing the seas once more will bring to many of us ineffable joy. Well done ! Vicky Loehr

The "Undersea World" shaped my ambition to become a Marine Biologist, well its a long story but I never did,I am a chemical engineer now but Jacques lives on for me in my ethics and passion for the environment. The point is I am only one, but one of millions inspired by the vision of one man, not a perfect man, but a boon to this planet and all its inhabitants.Thank you Jacques and to all who endeavour for good. Thank you to Captain Cousteau and the Cousteau Society for educating the world and sustaining a legacy of passion, inspiration and exploration! My mother bestowed your name to me. I intend to honor it with a life equally as great. I look forward to supporting the impossible mission of global peace and environmental education. Peace and Love Cousteau Magee

Great Page, the captain is my inspiration all days, I love dive Fernando Calderon
