Francine Cousteau, President of The Cousteau Society, had been pleased to welcome a team of volunteer divers aboard Alcyone to clean her hull, in the port of Caen (France), Alcyone’s home port since 2009.

11 volunteer divers, coming from Normandy (France) and faithful fans of Captain Cousteau’s work, came to help Patrice Quesnel, Captain of the Alcyone and Jean-Philippe Brothier, Electrical engineer, with the annual maintenance of the famous ship. Wearing their dry suits, the divers managed to clean the whole hull in just one day! Of course, it is not a dive on a coral reef, but this dynamic team has been very efficient!

Francine Cousteau and her team would like to warmly thank these lovers of the sea for their enthusiasm and team spirit:

Huge thanks to Jonathan Mansais, Stéphane Pollet, Elisabeth Lliopis, Sébastien Maton, Frédéric Poirier, Carine Poirier, Olivier Boutouyrie, Aurélie Daluzeau, Jean-Luc Picard and Vincent Baudry from ASAM Cherbourg dive club, Grégory Vauzelle from CSC Coutances dive club.
